Preschool

What are the admission requirements?

Students must have reached their fourth birthday and be completely toilet trained. Each child must be up-to-date on their immunizations with a certificate from their physician.

Will my child receive religious instruction?

Yes. Bible is the first subject of the day. Your child will memorize a scripture verse and will attend chapel each week. The chapel program includes singing familiar Bible songs and hearing a Bible story.

How will preschool prepare my child for Kindergarten?

Our reading-readiness program teaches the alphabet with its phonetic sounds. Your child will learn how to count and will be taught number concepts. A combination of written and manipulative work will help your child develop his or her gross and fine motor skills.

How many children will be in my child’s classroom?

At Southland Christian Academy, we do not “warehouse” children. Our preschool meets or exceeds the Louisiana standards for childcare.

Will my child’s teacher be qualified?

Yes. All our teachers are mature Christian adults with training in early childhood education. Each teacher exceeds the state standards for early childcare workers. They take part in ongoing training each year. All teachers and helpers are fully trained in first aid and CPR. Our teachers create a caring atmosphere because they love what they do.
