Preparing for College

We work hard at SCA to prepare students for the next step in their education.  For many of our graduates that means college.  Students graduating with a college preparatory diploma have taken the courses required by colleges and universities to enter as a freshman.
Though we do not employ a full-time guidance counselor, our high school administrative team is ready to work with each student and their family as they prepare for college.  Our high school department works to stay up-to-date on scholarship opportunities and admissions procedures. Our staff and faculty are ready to help each student as they walk step-by-step through the college application process.

SCA's Position Statement on College and Career Counseling
God does not direct all students to go to college. We prepare students to live a productive, Christian life regardless of God’s call on their lives.  Some graduates will attend college, some will attend trade schools, and others will go directly into the workforce. Those who choose college will be well prepared to handle college coursework.
The most important counsel for a young person is from his or her parents. Our goal is to assist the home - not to replace it. We never serve as a wedge between a student and his or her parents. We support the advice parents give to their children regarding college and career choices.
SCA promotes Christian colleges and universities.  SCA hosts college and university recruiters and sponsors campus visits. The school only hosts recruiters from conservative, Christian colleges and universities. Parents are welcome to take their children for campus visits without the student being charged with absences.
